I love making raw chocolate goodies at home.. but I also love to try other people's too (naturally!) Which is why I was immediately attracted to this fabulous site I happened to stumble upon... Ooosha Raw Culinary Artistry (www.ooosharawculinaryartistry.blogspot.com)
And when it comes to Amy Levin's creations, I would happily put in a weekly order for her delightful array of beautifully-crafted, fresh and live, 'uncooked'chocolates and treats.
I ordered a box of different samples... I wanted to try as many as I could!First for the tasting was her Chocolate Hazelnut Pralines (covered in 'milk' chocolate)
Actually dairy-free, these were... sublime! Amy has mastered the technique of attaining the texture of a raw praline to pat... the consistency was smooth and silky as you might hope from a praline filling... these were not too sweet and I savoured each nibble!
Next in the chocolate box was Malten Rock... "a layer of malted nougat topped with caramel and almonds, then double dipped in "milk" chocolate". Exquisite! These were sweet and sticky and crunchy yet also filling.
My next selection was the Raw Chocolate Covered Maple Almond Brittle...
There is something about the combination of maple and chocolate that transports me into seventh heaven! I loved this one. This was my favourite! I kept it in the freezer so it was crunchy and chunky and even a bit crackly!
Then it was the Almond Joy Truffle - just listen to these ingredients and tell me you are not salivating right now!
"Coconut, coconut oil, almond extract, organic honey, salt, almonds, maple sugar, maple syrup, salt, almond extract, cacao butter, cacao powder, cashew and maple sugar"
I loved biting into these - so very satisfying and sweet and the coconut filling was so smooth and creamy.... Shape-wise, they reminded me of those chocolate tea cakes I used to eat... but taste-wise... nothing comes close! These are original and divine!
I am looking forward to (impatient as anything!) to try Amy's Peppermint Patties (or 'Paddys' as she affectionately calls them) and her Hamantaschen.... which is another blissful maple chocolate marriage .. with Jewish roots. I would also like to hone my own chocolate culinary skills by one day enlisting on her Fundamental Raw Chocolate Class. You can catch her next one in September and find out more details by clicking on the link below. There are also lots of free recipes on Amy's blog with pictures so beautiful, you will wish that computers were actual chocolate boxes!
I love Amy's chocolates. I am a new fan of hers and I hope that she continues to get busy in her kitchen!
