Reviews - Why I Love The Wee Ride

For some months now, I have wanted to get a bike seat so I could get out and about with my (at the time of writing) two-year-old daughter, Maya. But I wasn't too keen on getting one of the bucket seats which fit on behind the rider. I have tried these out before and they are ok, but I didn't feel too stable whilst riding PLUS I couldn't see my precious load!

So I resigned myself to just not having one and then I read a suggestion from a parent in the letter's section of The Green Parent magazine about a seat that fits snugly in between the parent and the handlebars.

I was sent one out straight away to try and I have to say I have been out on three half-hour rides with my daughter so far and I am THRILLED with this product!

Not only is the Wee Ride pitched to be on the perfect place on the bike (in front of me so Maya is sheltered in my arms) but the balance and stability is superb.

There are no problems 'pushing off', even from tops of hills or corners (something which I found difficult to do with the bucket back seat).

The design of the seat is great: the seatbelt straps fit securely around Maya's shoulders and chest (like a high-chair's straps) and there is a handy resting post (which we call 'The Pod'!) Maya holds onto this whilst we ride and sometimes presses one of the bolts to make me go faster!

Other fine points about the Wee Ride is that we can chat whilst riding, and Maya can see everything and be involved with the whole cycling experience. She has even quickly learned her right from left as I get her to signal when we turn a corner.

What I was also thrilled to find out was that the Wee Ride Kangaroo seat is made for kids from one to five years old (weight-depending) so we still have a lot of use with it for Maya and for any future offspring!
